On March 20th I woke at 4am thinking about a series of modern photos resembling the photographs taken during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl.
Stoic images of folks confined to their homes.
I hurriedly created an Instagram text story asking people to let me photograph them on their front porch or stoop, and the next day I drove to five houses to photograph families from a distance.
I photographed families, partners, roommates, and singles for my series.
Each of these curbside sessions lasted about 5 minutes and I followed the CDC’s distancing guidelines at all times. I was keeping 6-10ft between myself and my families.
All of these photos depict healthy people in isolation. At the time of photography no subjects were infected with or suspected of having Covid-19. All current CDC social distancing guidelines were complied with in the making of these photos.
